Senior Adult Pastor Search Team Recommends Emory Riley

The Senior Adult Pastor Search Team is thrilled to announce its recommendation that the members of Severns Valley Baptist Church call Emory Riley as our Senior Adult Pastor. Emory and his wife, Leslie, will be with us August 19-20 for an “in-view-of-a-call” weekend.

Emory comes to us from First Baptist Church of Hopkinsville, KY where he currently serves as the Pastor of Worship & Sr. Adults. Emory has been serving at First Baptist Church for the past twenty years. Before serving in Hopkinsville, Emory served as Minister of Music and Education at First Baptist Church LaFollette, TN; Minister of Music at Rockford Lane Baptist Church in Louisville, KY; and Minister of Music and Youth at First Baptist Church Russell, KY.

Emory received his education at Georgetown College, Georgetown KY with a major in Vocal Performance and a minor in Religion.

For more than a year, the Senior Adult Pastor Search Team (which is chaired by Emmet Holley and includes Jo Griffith, Bradley Willcox, Marvin Hawk, Sharon Spratt, Vicky Stewart, and Mike Brady) have prayed and sought God’s will concerning the person who would fill this position. They are completely unified and absolutely enthusiastic about sharing with you the culmination of their search. They are excited for you to meet Emory in person this weekend.

The Senior Adults will have an opportunity to meet Emory and Leslie at a brunch on Saturday, August 19th, which will be held at the church at 10:00 am. Emory and Leslie will have supper with the search team and their spouses that evening. Emory will share his testimony in both Sunday morning worship services. At 3:30 Sunday afternoon, Emory and Leslie will be available for church members to meet and greet in the Atrium. Then, a special called business meeting will take place at 4:30 pm. on Sunday. At that time, the Search Team will formally present their recommendation to the church.

This will be a busy but productive weekend. Please be in prayer for the Riley family, as well as SVBC. May Christ be honored as we discern His will in this incredibly important matter.
