    NOISE Starts August 31st!

    Parents,

At Severns Valley we recognize that every child is uniquely gifted with different talents and interests. We celebrate these unique qualities with a special program that we designed, NOISE. NOISE is a unique program in that it ministers to every child, no matter his/her interests and talents. Have a kiddo who loves to bake? Have one who loves all things sports? Raising a little Picasso in your home? Do you have one child who loves all things music and dance? Have a girl who loves all things girly or a boy who loves power tools? We have something for everyone at NOISE! Join us Wednesdays at 6pm in the Children’s Wing as we help your child learn how to make a whole bunch o’ noise for Jesus through their talents and gifts. Each night your child will participate in activities designed specifically for their skill (group) with a time of missions and Bible study.

Check out the list below with descriptions of each skill. Please read these to your child and pre-determine his/her top 3 choices. When you arrive Wednesday, you will have the opportunity to register for your choices. Please plan on arriving around 5:30-5:45 to fill out paperwork and register your child. We will be in the Children’s Wing. Please come down the first hall when you enter through the main lobby (last hall if entering through the covered drive).

    Skills...

GET CRAFTY (K-3RD grade coed): Who is a shut-in and how can we serve and pray for them? How can we use our talent for arts and crafts to serve encourage them? We will be answering these questions and making baskets full of useful, encouraging gifts for the shut-ins of our church.

SINCERELY YOURS (3RD-5TH GRADE LADIES): In this skill ladies will learn the art of cardmaking and correspondence by creating cards for various occasions. We will also spend time studying several letters in God’s Word as we look at how the authors used descriptive imagery in the greeting and salutation.

WOODWORKING 101 (4TH-5TH grade guys): The leaders of this skill will work with the young men of NOISE to help them become Modern Day Knights: building self-esteem, creating an encouraging, respectful environment at home, on the sports field and in the classroom.  We'll learn various skills, use power and hand tools, and learn how to be a Godly leader in a modern world!

CHEFS IN TRAINING (all ages coed): The leaders of this skill will help children learn basic cooking skills as they prepare special treats for folks in the community and focus on serving others as they learn how to share the gospel.

YARD GAMES (all ages coed): Have fun playing classic games such as kickball, dodge ball, sharks-n-minnows and many more! We’ll have a wide range of fun outdoor and indoor games to play as we learn how to use our love of sports and movement to share God’s love and Word!

MUSICAL THEATRE (all ages coed): The leader of this skill will prepare children to lead worship on Sunday mornings (in the children’s large group time) as they sing, dance, and teach scripture. Participants of this skill need to attend Severns Valley regularly on Sunday mornings.

We can’t wait to see you Wednesdays as we make a whole bunch o’ NOISE for Jesus!

  • SVKids Missions Opportunity

This year for Halloween we are excited to give our church family a missions opportunity.

As we go about our busy lives, it's so easy to miss the chance to meet our neighbors, get to know the folks living right next door and spend time chatting with those who share a backyard with us.

We would like to give you the opportunity on Halloween night to get to know the folks living around you and invite them to join you at Severns Valley the following day.

Please grab a stack of SVKids Information Cards from the Registration Kiosk outside the worship center. Pass the cards out to your neighbors when you hand out candy to their kiddos this Halloween. Please use this as an opportunity to invite neighbors to church!

  • Operation Christmas Child

Every year our Severns Valley family packs shoeboxes with goodies, toothbrushes, soap and small toys.

Why? It's actually rather simple - to share the Gospel.

In partnership with Samaritan's Purse, Operation Christmas Child exists to spread the Gospel to the ends of the earth with a simple gift. We have the opportunity each and every year to help spread joy and, prayerfully, eternally change the life of a child, a family, a community with the Good News of Jesus!

Pack a shoebox this year with some of the items listed below and help us spread joy this Christmas! (Pick up a shoebox in the Children's Wing.)

    Suggested Items:

    • toothbrushes and toothpaste
    • soap
    • washcloth
    • small toys
    • combs, brushes, ponytail holders
    • socks
    • school supplies
    • hard candy

Bring your completed shoebox back to the church on or before November 8.

  • Vacation Bible School - Recap

Something pretty incredible happens when people meet up with Jesus and then MOVE!

Last week 326 children did exactly that...they moved! As we heard about Jesus and people who encountered Him, we had a blast learning how to move with the gospel through worship, teaching, recreation, snacks, and so much more.

Vacation Bible School is always an incredible week as we open our doors to the children in our community. This week would not happen if we did not have such amazing servants volunteering. Thank you to all of you who said "yes" to serving last week.

As the gospel was presented to our children last week, we saw 8 children come to know Christ and 11 more who want to talk further about salvation.

As part of our mission efforts the children put together bags of supplies for foster children. These bags (which hold toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, toys, underwear, socks, and more) will be given to children as they enter a new foster home. The offering that was collected will be used to continue our building efforts in Nicaragua.

The SVKids team would like to again say "thank you" for praying for VBS, donating supplies, and volunteering as we continue to Love God, Love People, and Make Disciples.
